Nerd News: Crushing Academic Freedom in Iran

posted Wednesday, 6 September 2006

I moan a lot about academics and the often-stifling atmosphere of campus culture.

This news story from Iran, though, made me remember that even if American academia can be strange, at least it is American academia.  Look at Iran, where Ahmadinejad wants to purge university teachers.  Yes, he wants to crack down on and purge teachers who do not agree with his hard-line fundamentalist ideas.  Horrible, horrible.

Cox and Forkum, as usual, has a pithy and piquant cartoon response.

UPDATE: Blog friend Dignified Rant has a great idea: let's swap professors!
