I can't make this up!
CNN reports that the Japanese have created a Hello Kitty robot receptionist that will perform tasks like greet visitors and carry on comversations with them.
I am . . . speechless. That ubiquitous cartoon cat is supposed to chat with visitors?? I also find this rather amusing since technically Hello Kitty doesn't have a mouth.
Anyway . . . Hm, how would you feel if you walked into an office and, instead of a real person sitting behind a desk, you were greeted by a gigantic pink Hello Kitty robot sitting on top of that desk?
By the way, hiring a Hello Kitty robot costs about $430 a month -- much less than hiring a real person. Hm, how would I feel if my boss told me, "I'm sorry, Miss Minerva, but due to company cutbacks and downsizing, we have to let you go. We can't afford to keep you on our payroll. We're going to replace you with Hello Kitty." Crazy!
