I kid you not, gentle reader! Add the Hello Kitty airplane to the list of recent Hello Kitty monstrosities! Look, I love Hello Kitty, but this is all just too much. The Taiwan-based airline EVA Airways now has a Hello Kitty plane as part of a promotional campaign for flights between Taipei, Taiwan, and Fukuoka, Japan.
When I first saw this, I couldn't believe it. So I went to the official EVA website, and yes, there it was: a news link to the official Hello Kitty plane! It even notes that the plane's hangar has been painted to look like Hello Kitty's cartoony world. Here it is, URL and all, to prove to you that I am not delusional. Oh, and turn up your speakers when you go to visit this site!
For the record, I love EVA. I've flown on it for my last two visits to Taiwan. The service and food are both fantastic, and I'm sure they are still fantastic on board the new Hello Kitty plane. But I can't help wondering... Will my meals be served on Hello Kitty dinnerware with Hello Kitty cutlery and Hello Kitty cups? I'll bet good money they will be. Bring on the Hello Kitty Ramen!
PS: You can now buy a ton of EVA Hello Kitty airplane stuff. Oh, my!
PS #2: If you wear this Hello Kitty satire attire and attempt to board a Hello Kitty plane, the airport security may want a word with you.
UPDATE: Metrolingua has a cute post on this too, and she thinks that the Japanese version of the official website is even cuter. She's right! It's adorable and full of animations. Go have a look at: http://evakitty.evaair.com/jp/ and don't miss the photo of the entire jet.
