Hey, check this out!
An obsession with healthy eating can in itself be . . . you guessed it . . . a mental disorder! Yep, orthorexia.
Well, I don't know about you, but I feel a LOT better. Aren't you tired of every nanny-government figure trying to tell you what to eat, how to eat it, when to eat it, etc. etc.? Aren't you tired of granola-crunching, vegan-proselytizing health fanatics leading campaigns to ban everything from ice cream to fish-and-chips? Aren't you tired of being pounded with pseudo-virtuous messages trying to make you feel guilty about what you eat if you enjoy your food?
Maybe the problem isn't YOU. Maybe the problem is THEM.
I feel liberated! Modern obsession with healthy food ends up being a hatred of food itself and a masochistic refusal to enjoy the good things that we have. Not me! Excuse me while I rush out and indulge in a huge pile of deliciously unhealthy pancakes, completed with butter and maple syrup--and I mean REAL butter. And bring on the bacon and eggs while you're at it! Sausages! Godiva chocolates! Shu mai! Sashimi! Barbecue! Ramen! Gelato! Fried chicken! BRING IT ALL. It's like something my dad says: "Better to die from eating too well than die from starvation." Indeed.
