Christmas Fun: The History of "Silent Night"

The gorgeous Christmas song "Silent Night" first appeared on Christmas Eve in 1818 in Austria (in a little town near Salzburg).  "Stille Nacht" went on to become one of the most recognizable songs in the world.

The Austrians have an entire "Silent Night Association," and it has a very detailed website full of fascinating information.  See, for instance, the side-by-side comparison of the lyrics in German and English.

There's also a "Silent Night" Museum and webcam.
