When I talk about "colorful Italian politicians," I'm usually talking about Silvio Berlusconi -- who, for his sheer flamboyance, is always entertaining to watch, whether you agree with him or not.
This time, the colorful Italian politician isn't Silvio. Nope, he's been upstaged by Reform Minister Roberto Calderoli and his T-shirts.
So how does one upstage Silvio? Yes, yes, I know Silvio caused a stir just a few days ago when, in Beatles-like fashion, he compared himself to Jesus Christ. (Oh, Silvio, Silvio . . . I laughed out loud.) But the uninhibited Calderoli's wardrobe addition (or "wardrobe malfunction"?) is causing another kind of stir altogether.
Read on! I hope we won't see Italian flags being torched along with Danish ones, but you never can tell nowadays.
The thought also occurs to me that the right of free speech and free expression does, at times, seem tailor-made for some of Italy's more . . . ah, interesting public figures.
